At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii, which takes place this December, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 will be showcased. Beforehand, information about the new SoC has already appeared on the Chinese website Weibo through a well-known Chinese leaker.
Snapdragon 865 up to 20 percent faster than Snapdragon 855
Qualcomm will manufacture the new chipset in Samsung’s 7nm EUV process. In order to support the new mobile radio standard, there should be a 5G variant in addition to the 4G. Furthermore, the new processor should be an octa-core CPU. The main ARM Cortex A77 core is said to clock at 2.84GHz, while three more A77 cores run at 2.42GHz. The remaining cores are somewhat weaker A55 cores with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz.
In terms of graphics performance, Qualcomm is also set to an Adreno 650, which seems to represent an increase of up to 20 percent over the Adreno 640. However, not only should the GPU offer a 20 percent increase, the CPU should also be 20 percent faster than the Snapdragon 855+.
Other rumors speak of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with support for LPDDR5 RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S11 could be one of the first smartphones powered by the new SoC.
Whether and to what extent the new chipset with these Specs comes on the market, can not be said yet. However, at least the information of the Weibo-Leakers appear quite realistic. If new information appears, we will of course keep you up to date.
